Traffic Police Deploy Body Cameras in Pilot Programme

Traffic enforcement officers in a major city began wearing body cameras this week as part of a pilot programme intended

Traffic enforcement officers in a major city began wearing body cameras this week as part of a pilot programme intended to improve transparency and accountability during roadside interactions with motorists.

The initiative follows years of public complaints about extortion and unprofessional conduct at checkpoints, with officials hoping the cameras will discourage misconduct on both sides.

“This is about building public trust and protecting officers from false allegations as well,” a police spokesperson said.

The pilot covers 200 officers across major intersections, with a review scheduled after three months to determine whether the programme will be expanded citywide.
