Farmers across several northern states are reporting a bumper harvest this season, attributing the improved yields to favourable rainfall and the wider adoption of drought-resistant seed varieties distributed by agricultural extension programmes.

Agricultural officials say early estimates suggest grain output could rise significantly compared to last year, offering a boost to local food security and prices.

“This is the best harvest we’ve had in years, and it shows what proper support for farmers can achieve,” one farmers’ cooperative leader said.

Officials caution that post-harvest storage and transportation remain challenges that could limit the full benefit of the increased yields if not addressed quickly.
