The road safety corps launched an awareness campaign this week urging motorists to observe speed limits and avoid night travel ahead of the anticipated increase in road traffic during the upcoming festive season.
Officials say previous years have seen a spike in road accidents during this period, often linked to speeding, vehicle overloading, and driver fatigue on long-distance routes.
“We want every family to reach their destination safely. That starts with responsible driving,” a corps spokesperson said at the campaign launch.
Checkpoints will be increased along major highways, with officials also distributing safety pamphlets and conducting vehicle roadworthiness checks at motor parks.
