A fashion week event in Lagos put a spotlight on emerging designers this year, with runway shows featuring collections that blended traditional Nigerian textiles with contemporary silhouettes.

Buyers and international press in attendance praised the craftsmanship on display, with several designers reporting a surge in orders following their showcases.

“This platform gave me access to buyers I could never have reached on my own,” one designer said backstage after her show.

Organisers said this year’s edition attracted more international attendees than any previous year, a sign they believe reflects Nigeria’s growing influence in global fashion circles.
