Transport authorities announced a revised toll structure for a major interstate expressway, with discounted rates introduced for daily commuters using electronic tags, aimed at easing congestion at toll gates.
The policy follows months of public feedback on lengthy queues that officials say have contributed to increased travel times along the corridor.
“We listened to commuters and adjusted the system to reward regular users while keeping the road well maintained,” a transport ministry official explained.
The new rates take effect next month, with a grace period for motorists to register for electronic toll tags. Officials say revenue from tolls will fund ongoing road maintenance.
