The National Emergency Management Agency has issued flood alerts for several riverine communities as the rainy season intensifies, urging residents in low-lying areas to relocate to higher ground as a precaution.
Meteorological data shows above-average rainfall is expected over the coming weeks, raising the risk of overflow along major river basins.
“We are working with state emergency agencies to pre-position relief materials and ensure early warning systems reach vulnerable communities,” an agency spokesperson said.
Local governments have been directed to clear drainage channels and set up temporary shelters. Residents are advised to monitor official channels for updates as the situation develops.
